“The scenery is a work of art. The scenery (Shawn Lewis) is comprised of five doors that circle the stage and create an interior of an immense French chateau. The doors, each of which is decorated in a different style, represent a certain eclecticism. Most important, they provoke a sense of being merely facades, of plywood with no substance, and by extension, of a hollow world whose conventions and manners fail to conceal social putrefaction.”
